As always, we appreciate all of your interests with Wife and Inmate Connection. Last week we sent a mass email indicating marriages have resumed in TDCJ as of May 17, 2021. Please be patient as this information is still be disseminated throughout TDCJ to thousands of employees from Administrative Review and Correctional Institutional Division. It will take time for everyone to get on board.
We are here to help you throughout that process and will reach out to our TDCJ contacts and units as necessary.
If you did not receive our previous update, you may find the information here, below dated May 20, 2021! It is very important for our clients to follow the information published.
Our current update is regarding COVID rapid testing and vaccines!
Effective June 1, 2021, TDCJ – CID has announced that TDCJ visitors will be allowed to bypass the Covid Rapid Testing requirements with presentation of a COVID Vaccine Card.
There is a stipulation with this, your vaccines must be up to date and must be in place for at least 14 days. Anything less than 14 days since your last dose will require a rapid test to gain entry to the unit.
Being vaccinated is your preference. We encourage our TDCJ officiants and marriage clients to be vaccinated if you feel it is the right choice for your health. We will NOT ever impose upon your liberties. We do not offer preference or judgement towards vaccinated or unvaccinated clients. We will continue to take precautions as recommended by the CDC and TDCJ institution as a whole.
You must wear a mask to your ceremony. Hand sanitizer is not allowed to enter the prison system due to the alcohol content. Please use your hand sanitizer prior to entry and upon exit of your TDCJ facility, if desired; but it must remain in your vehicle at all times.
TDCJ RESUMES WEDDINGS MAY 17, 2021 Dear Brides and Grooms,
You are receiving this update as a Wife and Inmate Connection client. In 2020 or 2021, you made a deposit or payment for TDCJ marriage services with us.
As of May 17, 2021, TDCJ has announced that marriages can now resume.
Please note the following:
- TDCJ will still require a COVID test on wedding day; there was an announcement regarding vaccine cards bypassing visitation COVID testing. We have NOT confirmed if this same information will be bypassed on wedding day. (Please stay tuned!) If you have your COVID Vaccine Card, be prepared to possibly show it at the gate check in. - All weddings are currently non-contact at this time. We do not have an estimated timeframe as to when TDCJ will resume contact ceremonies. (If this is important to you, then please wait for more announcements, and check back in with us later at your convenience.)
Currently, we are reaching out to all clients who remain in the marriage process. If you would like to continue the marriage process, please consider the following information needed to perform your marriage.
1. Has your loved one recently transferred to a new TDCJ unit? If so, you must notify us of the correct unit so we can offer you an updated rate quote. 2. Have you returned our Application for Services? We require a copy of your Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport to be returned with the application. If you need to obtain a new application for services, we have conveniently made all marriage down payment documents available at this link: https://www.wifeandinmate.com/marriage-resource.html 3. We are re-assigning officiants! Wife and Inmate Connection now has 11 officiants across the state of Texas to service your needs. If you were previously assigned an officiant, do not submit that officiant’s name. We’ve had one officiant sadly pass away from COVID, and another who is now employed full time elsewhere. 4. Before you request a ceremony with the unit, please reach out to us and let us know where you are in the process. Some of you may need to resubmit paperwork in order to purchase the marriage license.
We are in the process of identifying when your specified unit will conduct ceremonies each month. This is currently our only concern
If you are unsure of your current balance, you may call us or email us. We will need your name, your loved one’s name, TDCJ number, and current unit. Remember, our rates vary by unit and we need to cross check this information from when you first made your deposit.
Please keep in mind, we are managing a surge. There is high demand and high volume. We have hundreds of clients, so please be prepared to provide your information, your loved one’s information, and have all your questions ready. We cannot easily identify you by email or first name, so again please provide as much information as possible so we can easily research your inquiry and reply in a concise and diligent manner for you and other clients awaiting information.
REFUND POLICY: As a reminder, we maintain a no refund policy. Our work is dedicated to helping clients move forward with the marriage process and is not solely inclusive of performing your marriage at your designated TDCJ unit.
Personal Message from Wife and Inmate Connection President and Director of Operations, Birdy Padron
“I’m doing my part to keep your incarcerated loved one safe. In 2020, WIC officiant Estacia, passed away from Covid. In April 2021, Crystal, a WIC office staff member, was hospitalized and remains on oxygen from Covid! You and your incarcerated loved ones matter. Prison health care is horrendous. I want to see your loved ones come home to you! So, when you see me at the TDCJ units just know I’m fully vaccinated against Covid and will maintain boosters to curb the virus! ♥️ For me, it’s personal.” #wifeandinmate Congratulations on your Engagements and we look forward to seeing you at the units!
